Accident Cover
In the event of accident, CGU Comprehensive Car Insurance policies come with a number of features to help you get back on the road as quickly as possible. They include:
- Vehicle return
- Emergency repairs
- Towing
- Personal property
- Accommodation or transport home
If your car is involved in an accident more than 100 kilometres from your home and is damaged to the extent it can't be driven, CGU will pay you up to $500 to return your car.
If you select CGU's Fire, Theft & Third Party Property Damage cover, Vehicle Return only applies following a fire, or if your car is stolen or the theft of a component of your vehicle prevented you from driving it.
Vehicle Return does not apply to CGU's Third Party Property Damage Only cover.
Emergency repairs
After an accident, CGU will pay up to $500 for emergency or temporary repairs to your car.
If you select CGU's Fire, Theft & Third Party Property Damage cover, emergency repairs only apply following a fire or the attempted theft of your car, or the theft of items from your car.
Emergency repairs do not apply to CGU's Third Party Property Damage Only cover.
Towing
CGU will pay the cost of towing your car to a repairer near the accident site (or where the car is found) or to another place CGU agrees to.
If you select CGU's Fire, Theft & Third Party Property Damage cover, towing only applies to fire and theft.
Towing does not apply to CGU's Third Party Property Damage Only cover.
Personal property
Personal property (such as clothing and baggage) damaged in your car during an accident is covered for up to $500.
This feature does not apply to CGU's Fire, Theft & Third Party Property Damage or Third Party Property Damage Only covers.
Accommodation or transport home
If your car is involved in an accident more than 100 kilometres from your home and is damaged to the extent it can't be driven, CGU will pay up to $500 to -
Accommodate you and your passengers for one night; or
Transport you and your passengers back to your home.
This feature does not apply to CGU's Fire, Theft & Third Party Property Damage or CGU's Third Party Property Damage Only covers.
